Lamb Jam Coming to Austin (And I’m Giving Away 2 Tickets!)

You may have caught our love of lamb meat in my Christmas recipe post, so imagine the excitement my British partner and I had when we found out that there was a festival dedicated to celebrating his favorite, healthy protein!

The American Lamb Jam promises tastings from 16 of Austin’s best and brightest chefs, along with some of Texas’ finest wine and beer. Here’s the star-studded list of the amazing chefs you’ll get to taste from:

It’s all happening on Sunday, February 22nd from 3-6 at the beautiful Barr Mansion. You can purchase tickets here, OR enter for your chance to win 2 tickets from me! How? Simple! Follow me, and @FanOfLAmb, and tweet which chef or restaurant you’re most excited about sampling dishes from with the hashtag: #atxlamb. You can enter more than once, and I’ll choose a winner at random to be announced on Tuesday! May the odds be ever in your favor!

Fun + (Mostly) Free Events

Wednesday the 10th: Enjoy sips and treats at the Away Spa at The W from 6-9.

Friday the 12th: Check out the Fit Foodie 5K! They have amazing stuff happening all weekend long, including a tasty kick-off party at Searsucker, and yours truly will be out there working up a sweat. (It’s my first 5K.) Also, MOD at the LBJ is going to be a can’t-miss event. The tickets are $40 in advance, but that includes an open bar, appetizers, and 60s fashion.

Saturday the 13th: It’s the Austin Weird Homes tour!

Monday the 15th: Departure Lounge is celebrating their first anniversary with happy hour pricing all night, all week, from the 15th-20th. I can personally vouch for how delicious their wine flights are.

That’s all I have at the moment, but follow me on Twitter for last minute updates, and surprise finds. (Trust me, they happen.)

Fun + Free: Early April Edition

Here are a few gems I pulled up for the upcoming week. This site is still a work in progress design-wise, but I’ll still be adding content on the regular while that part gets worked on. Feel free to contact me with any cool events, restaurant openings, or potential partnerships. Here’s the list:

Stop by Departure Lounge from 6-8 on Tuesday the 8th for some complimentary cheese, paired by Chef David Bull, with your wine. The happy hour deals are pretty great there as well. Who doesn’t like free tacos and beer? Check out Oyama’s party at 6!

From 7-9 on Wednesday the 9th enjoy free BBQ!

On Thursday the 10th from 4-9 check out this art reception featuring an appearance by Bob Schneider. You can check out The Dogwood from 5:30-8:30 for a free drink and some networking. You can head to Rae Cosmetics from 6-8 for a trunk show with sips and treats.

If you’re on the east side from 2-7:30 on Friday, don’t miss free beer and crawfish!

Head to Madewell on Saturday the 12th from 3-5 for micheladas and tasty bites from Easy Tiger. Adelbert’s Brewery is celebrating their 3rd anniversary from 1-5. $20 will get you a ton of special tappings. Also, you can get some beer and food, plus check out a very cool new spot, from 2-7.

The East Austin Farm Tour, which is Sunday, isn’t free, but DANG it sounds amazing. At least if you’re a foodie/wine-o. (Like me.)
